Obituary

Willis James Chapman 86, of Hopkinton passed away January 23rd, 2006. He was the husband of Dorothy (McKay) Chapman for 51 years. Born in Framingham he was the son of the late Fred and Florence (Robie) Chapman. Mr. Chapman was a veteran of WWII and lived in Hopkinton for over 50 years. He was a pipe fitter at Dennison Manufacturing for more than 30 years before retiring in 1985. Mr. Chapman was an outdoorsman who loved to garden and fish. He was an avid sports fan and a stock car driver at Westborough Speedway. Besides his wife Mr. Chapman leaves two sons: Robert and James Chapman, a daughter Carol Gay, two sisters: Virginia Wallace of Framingham, and Bertha Brown of Natick, two brothers Richard Chapman of Vermont, and Fred W. Chapman of Hopkinton. He was the brother of the late Lillian Rowe. Mr. Chapman also leaves many nieces and nephews. The funeral service is private and under the direction of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street, Ashland. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Framingham Heart Study, 5 Thurber Street Framingham, MA 01702.
