William Patrick White, 73, longtime resident of Ashland passed away Friday August 28, 2026 after a long battle with cancer. Born in Natick, he was the son of the late William W. White and the late Helen (Walsh) Cameron and step-son to Gordon Cameron. He was the husband of the late Donna (Gray) White who tragically died in a motor vehicle accident in 1984. Bill worked as a truck driver for Brigham Ice Cream Co. for his entire career. Despite tragedy and many health problems, Bill remained a positive person and good friend to many. He enjoyed many hobbies and diverse interests including collecting model trucks, visiting beaches in Maine, lighthouses, the Grand Ol’ Opry – which he visited with his late sister Cheri, and love of his pet cats.
Bill was deeply moved when three Ashland fire fighters were killed in the line of duty in 1963 and that led to a lifelong interest in fire service as well as support and friendship with the Ashland Fire Department.
Along with his many interests, Bill was an avid baseball fan. He loved the game, collecting memorabilia, and along with his friend, the late Dennis Liborio, enjoyed visiting the clubhouses of several major league teams, his favorite being the Houston Astros.
In addition to his step-father, Bill is survived by his brother, Barry White of Milford, sister-in-law, Cheryl Crivello and her husband Paul, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was the brother of the late Cheryl White and brother-in-law to the late Robert Gray.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday Sept. 4th at 10:30am in St. Cecilia’s Church, 54 Esty St. Ashland, MA with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland, MA.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bill’s name to the Ashland Fire Department Association, 12 Union Street, Ashland, MA 01721.
