William T. Tunney, 84, of Quincy, died Saturday, June 10, 2006, after a short period of declining health. The son of the late Patrick and Mary (Cronin) Tunney, he was a lifelong resident of the Boston area, and had been employed with the city of Boston for more than 60 years, retiring in 1985. He leaves many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Helen Runci, Katherine Brownlee, Mary Squires, and John and James Tunney. Mr. Tunney was predeceased by his longtime companion, Ruth Pitrowiski. A graveside service will be held Thursday, June 15, at 11 a.m., at Oaklawn Cemetery, Barber Street, Medway. There are no visiting hours. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Matarese Funeral Home in Ashland.
