Obituary

William F. Pratt Sr, 92, died Sunday Oct. 28th at Kindred Newton and Wellesley Alzheimer's in Wellesley. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Mildred (Spencer) Pratt, 6 brothers and 7 sisters. Born in West Newbury, Bill lived in Ashland for more than 50 years. He was a WWII veteran who served on the European Home Front and is holder of the Bronze Star. He was one of the founding fathers of the Ashland V.F.W. Post 2331 where he was the past Commander and the past District Commander of Massachusetts. Bill was also a member of the American Legion and retired from General Motors after 35 years. He enjoyed camping with family at the Oak Haven Family Campground in Wales, MA. He is survived by two sons; William F. Pratt, Jr and his wife Sylvia of Ashland, MA; and John A. Pratt and his wife Harriet of Plano, TX; one daughter; Dolores D. Halloran of Palmer, MA; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Nov. 1st at 10:00am in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ashland Ambulance Fund, 70 Cedar St., Ashland, MA 01721.
