William "Bill" Porcella Sr., 81, of Ashland, passed away Monday, March 13th at the Metrowest Medical Center in Natick after a long and courageous battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. The family would like to thank Dr. Timothy Ernst and his staff for their superb care and support throughout his illness. Born in Cambridge, Mr. Porcella had lived in Ashland for more than 40 years. He is survived by his wife Kathleen (O'Neil) Porcella, to whom he was married for 42 years. He was the son of the late Antonio and Henrietta (Miller) Porciello. Besides his wife Mr. Porcella leaves four children; Kathy Lohnes and her husband Phil of Boylston, Billy Porcella of Ashland, Kevin Porcella and his wife Kristie of Hudson, and Brian Porcella and his fiancé Sue DiMaria of Boylston; eight grandchildren, Aaron, Ryan, and Kyra Lohnes, Nicholas and Christopher Porcella, Faith and Kevin Porcella, Jr. and Brian D. Porcella. Mr. Porcella also leaves two brothers; Ted Porcella of Stow and Tom Porcella of Ashland, three sisters; Franny Tosi of Ashland, Phyllis Cutting of Maine and Eleanor Bagge of Maine; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers Anthony Porcella and Gene Porciello. Mr. Porcella was a mechanic and co-owner with his brothers of Tranco Garage in Ashland for many years. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II, attaining the rank of Seaman, First Class, and receiving the World War II Victory Medal. A funeral service will be held on Saturday March 18th at 12:00 PM in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home.
