William M. (Bill) Leacu, 86, of Ashland passed away December 23rd after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Barbara (Beaudoin) Leacu. Born in Natick, MA, he was the son of the late Michael and Euridece (Zengo) Leacu and husband to the late Joan (Simpson) Leacu who died in 1986. Bill lived in Ashland over 60 years and was the owner and president of Ashland Excavating Company, Inc. He was also a member of the NRA and the Teamsters Union #170. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, Bill served honorably in the United States Army and was a member of the James O. Carey Post 77 American Legion.
Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, William (Larko) Leacu of Ashland, Thomas Leacu and his wife Sheila of Ashland; two daughters, Cynthia Leacu of Ashland and Bonny Stotz and her husband Andrew of York, Maine; one step-daughter, Adrian Rainone; four grandchildren, Andrew Stotz, Jr., Camille Stotz, Alexander Rainone and Julian Rainone. He was the brother of the late Arthur, John, and James Leacu, and the late Mary Corbett.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 30th at 11:00am in Wildwood Cemetery, Chestnut St. Ashland followed by a gathering at the Ashland American Legion, 40 Summer St. Ashland.
