Obituary

William G. Driscoll, Jr. 86, of Framingham & former long time resident of Ashland, passed away Aug. 19th. He was the husband of the late Claire E.(Cunningham)Driscoll. Born in Brighton, son of the late William G. Sr. & Mary Frances (McDonald Driscoll. Mr Driscoll was a veteran of W.W.II, serving from 1940 to 1946 in the Pacific Theatre on the U.S.S.Portland, Shangri-La & Pecos. He attended Brighton High, Manter Hall & was a graduate of M.I.T. , a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers & a registered professional engineer. He retired from Raytheon Equipment Division. While living in Ashland ,Bill served on the Zoning board of appeals. As a member of the NorthEast Bicycle Club & No.Medford Running Club, Bill was an avid, competitive bike racer & runner. He ran several Boston marathons into his later years. Bill Driscoll was an exemplary human being. He is survived by one brother, Robert F. Driscoll & wife Frances (Caggiano) of Wellfleet Ma. & Green Valley, Az.; three sisters: Clair J. Flanders & husband Edward of Hudson, N.H. Joan Martin of Palm Springs, Ca & Helen D. Greene & husband Robert F. of Brighton. Also survived by several neices & nephews & step-children. A funeral service will be held Friday, Aug. 22nd at 10:00am in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home (www.mataresefuneral.com) 325 Main St. in Ashland. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 5:00-8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Patricks Manor, 863 Central St. Framingham, Ma. 01701
