Wayne W.
O'Neill
Feb 23, 1957 — Jan 4, 2024
Marlborough
Wayne W. O'Neill passed away at home shortly after the new year at the age of 66. Wayne was predeceased by his loving wife, Rosario O'Neill (Machicado). He was born in Boston to the late John and Evelyn O'Neill (Burke). Wayne grew up in Belmont, MA where he proudly served as a Police Officer until his retirement in 2000. Upon moving from Belmont, Wayne and Rose lived with their three children in Marlborough, MA. Wayne will be lovingly remembered and missed by his three children; Jacqueline Caviston (O'Neill) 40 of Rutland, Sean O'Neill 37 of West Boylston and Jillian Matthews (O'Neill) 30 of Rutland. His sons and daughter in law, Kevin Caviston, Brenden Matthews and Shannon O'Neill will fondly remember the man who they all came to think of as a father of their own. Wayne was a proud and wonderful Papa and leaves behind his 7 grandchildren who were his pride and joy; Jack, Felicity and Shepard Caviston; Gavin, Evelyn and Camden O'Neill and River Matthews.
Wayne was affectionately referred to as Tiger by his siblings; Stephen O'Neill and wife Sharon of Billerica, Mark O'Neill and wife Clara of Shrewsbury, Christine Hubbard and husband Chris of Shrewsbury and the late Karen Gingrass of Framingham. He was also a friend and uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
Wayne and Rose were high school sweethearts and spent many poignant moments of their lives together. From prom, graduations from Boston College and Western New England College respectively, and marrying at 23 - Many family vacations to Newfound Lake, restoring their first home, driving their children to and from sporting events - Fondly watching their children fall in love and build happy lives of their own to welcoming their first grandchildren together. The legacy and love Wayne and Rose left behind in their children and grandchildren has more of an impact than any time physically spent on this earth.
Wayne was an avid fisherman who enjoyed spending afternoons and evenings beside friends and family with a line in the water. He also enjoyed hunting, golfing and endlessly tinkering with his Harley Davidson. He was always happiest with children or animals nearby and humbly lent an ear to anyone who needed to talk or could use advice. As a man whose presence was larger than life and always unapologetically himself, his absence will leave an irreplaceable void but his memory and strong character traits will live on in his family.
