Dear friends,

We would like to invite you to Walt Stamper's Celebration of Life next Saturday afternoon, May 15, to remember the life of a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend.

This is a drop-in event, so please join us at the Vickery Hills Clubhouse anytime between Noon and 3 pm to share memories of Walt and to view a collection of memorabilia and family photos.

Lunch and drinks will be provided by the family.

Special considerations for Covid19:

  • In accordance with CDC and Massachusetts Department of Health guidelines, please wear a mask except when eating or drinking.
  • Please stay home if you are sick or have been near someone who thinks they may have or have been exposed to Covid19.

Walton Bennett Stamper, age 85, of Southborough passed away peacefully at home on April 19 th , 2021 after a battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of 50 years, his daughters, Lisa Johnson and her husband Steve of Walla Walla, WA, Laurie Welling of Ashland, MA, Elizabeth Grossman and her husband Ofer of Santa Monica, CA, and his precious grandchildren, Erin Morton and her husband Cole of Seattle, WA, Katie Panek and her husband Antonio of Santiago, Chile, and Sam, Shai and Kobi Grossman of Santa Monica, CA and Abbie Grossman of Israel.

Born in Huntington, WV in 1936 to Howard and Lillian Stamper, Walton was raised by his grandmother, Edith Walton, whom he called "a great woman." He left WV in the 9 th grade for Oak Ridge Military Institute in NC. From there he studied at Wofford college in SC where he received a degree in Business and Psychology, and was member of the Kappa Alpha Order, and ROTC. He found his calling in the Army, and had various assignments over his 20 years of active duty in Germany, the Dominican Republic, Vietnam, and Korea. As a Master Parachutist in the 82 nd Airborne Division, he received the Legion of Merit and Bronze Star, and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. In retirement, he traveled the world with his wife, and served as a proud member of the Military Order of the World Wars, Association of the United States Army, and Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company and Wofford College.  The family wishes to thank the medical teams at Dana Farber and Brigham and Women's for his care, and Metrowest Hospice. Services will be scheduled at a later date.
