Obituary

Waitman T. Simpson, 64 of Bellingham formerly of Ashland passed away June 28th in Northborough. He was the husband of Ann (Dicken) Simpson. Born in Fairmont,West Virginia, he was the son of the late Stanley and Mary (McCollough) Simpson. He was a graduate of Snowden Township High School in Library, PA. and attended and graduated from Point Park College in Pittsburg, PA. At the time of his death he was employed with the Glick Nissan Auto Sales in Westborough and he had worked there over 20 years. He served his country with the United States Navy during the Vietnam conflict, in the Bay of Pigs Invasion and Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a member and past commander of the VFW and American Legion both in Ashland and was the past commander of the VFW post in Bellingham. He also was the Past District Commander of the VFW. Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters: Susan Bergeron of Swampscott, and Kathleen Simpson of Bellingham. Two sons: Thomas Simpson of New York, NY and David Simpson of Natick. Two Sisters: Helen O'Connor of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Margaret Martin of Beaverton, Oregon. Two grandchildren: Owen and Mason Bergeron. A funeral service will be held on Monday July 3rd at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland. Calling hours will be held on Sunday evening from 5-8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the VFW Scholarship Fund Pleasant St. Ashland, MA 01721 or American Legion Scholarship Fund Summer St. Ashland, MA 01721.
