Virginia C. (Lake) Chester, 91, born April 22, 1921 passed away peacefully at home on Friday morning August 10th surrounded by her loving family. She was a lifetime Ashland resident. A graduate of Ashland High School Class of 1939, she worked at Telechron Clock Company as an executive secretary. She was a kind, caring woman with many talents. She loved square dancing, painting, sewing and she was extremely creative. Her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved family and sharing their lives. She spent every summer for 50 yrs. at Queen Lake in their cottage in Phillipston, MA. She made many wonderful friends and fond memories there. She is survived by her devoted husband Ken of nearly 56 years; two sons, her prides and joy, Kevin D. Chester and wife, Joanna, of Dudley, MA and Kenneth D. Chester and his wife, Heidi, of Hancock, NH; two beautiful granddaughters that she adored, Kaitlin and Kristina Chester, both of Dudley, MA. She also leaves several nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. She will be deeply missed. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday Aug. 14th at 9:00 am in St. Cecilia's Church in Ashland. Calling hours will be held Monday from 5:00-7:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to a charity of your choice in her honor.
