Timothy James Knop passed away peacefully at his home in Northborough, MA on Thursday, November 24th at the age of 68 after a courageous battle with cancer. Tim is survived by his wife Dena Knop, his daughter and her husband, Amy and Dan Carter of Plymouth, MA, his son and his wife, David and Alisa Knop of Portland, ME, his stepdaughter and her husband, Dara and Tom Washburn of Ashland, MA, his stepson, Kent Larick of Boston MA and ten grandchildren. Tim is also survived by his mother, Barbara Knop of Lima, NY, his brother John Knop of Lima, NY and his sister Susan Gobien of Springfield, VA.

Tim was born on September 20, 1948 in Rochester, NY. He attended the University of Maryland and the University of Texas where he earned a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. He served his country honorably during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of Captain in the US Army. Following his military service, Tim began a long career in Engineering Management, ending with his retirement from Bose Corporation where he worked as Director of Manufacturing Development Engineering.

Upon his retirement, Tim and Dena pursued a long planned dream of cross country travel in a RV to visit as many National Parks as possible. Tim was happiest when he was in the company of his children and grandchildren and when he was spending time with good friends.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 29th at 12:00 PM in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home , 325 Main St. in Ashland, MA. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 10 AM to 12:00 PM.
