Thomas Gaetano
Manguso, Jr.
Sep 12, 1926 — Apr 10, 2024
Thomas G. Manguso Jr, 97, former longtime resident of Orleans, MA and Ashland, MA, passed away Wed. April 10, 2024 with his family by his side. Born in Milford, he was the son of the late Thomas and Lena (Rossetti) Manguso. Thomas was the loving husband of the late Ann (Snow) Manguso for 70 years before her passing in 2020. He met his bride on a commuter train headed to Boston where two young adults, after the war, enrolled in a renowned Boston Art School, Vesper George, and never looked back. An accomplished artist, he worked as the Art Director at Dennison Mfg. in Framingham until his retirement in 1988. He was a past president of the Framingham Artist Guild. Mr. Manguso served his country honorably during WWII with the Army Air Corps in the European theatre. He was a talented trumpet player, playing with the Army Air Corps Band on Radio Free Europe and continued to play well into his 90's with the Sun City Center Big Band in Florida and the Lower Cape Cod Band.
Thomas was defined by his love of life, his love of family and his love of friends. Tom enjoyed lifelong friendships from his early years growing up in Milford MA. One of his greatest regrets was, unfortunately, having outlived them all. But his family was the center of his life. Nothing was more important than getting the whole extended family together as often as possible. And finally, he had an insatiable love of life itself and happy to engage strangers as if they were friends and always looking forward to the future.
Mr. Manguso is survived by four children; William Manguso and his wife Mary of Wareham; Martha Wetmore and her husband David of Orleans; Peter Manguso and his wife Brenda of Framingham; and Thomas Manguso and his wife Alison of Upton; five grandchildren, Phillip, Matthew, David Jr, Elizabeth, and Nicholas, eight great-grandchildren, brother, Alfred Manguso of Milford, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Thomas was the father of the late John Manguso who died in 1966 and brother of the late Dorothy Cunningham.
