Theresa Elizabeth (Mello) DePlacido, 80, formerly of Ashland, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 17th in New Jersey. She was the wife of the late Anthony L. DePlacido who died in 1991. A loving mother to Nancy D'Apolito and her husband Dr. David of Edison, NJ; Denise Shaw of Cape Elizabeth, ME; Devoted grandmother to David and Philip D'Apolito and Erik Shaw. Loving sister to brother John Mello and his wife Patricia of Hyde Park. She was the sister of the late Thomas Mello of Walpole. She also leaves nieces and nephews. Theresa was born in Boston where she grew up and graduated from Cathedral High School. She married Anthony and traveled extensively throughout the United States before settling in Ashland where they lived for over 40 years. She worked at Sharon Bolt and Screw as a floor manager for many years. She retired from the Massachusetts Rehab Commission as a bookkeeper and moved to New Jersey in 2007 to be near her family. Theresa enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Her many trips to Disney World with her devoted grandsons gave her great joy and special memories. She will be missed by all those who loved to be with her. A funeral mass will take place on Thursday morning, the 24th, at 9 AM at Saint Cecilia's Church, Esty Street in Ashland with interment to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday evening from 5-7 PM at the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street, Ashland, MA.
