Ceslava R. "Tess" Wernet, 83, of Pinehurst, NC; formerly of Ashland, passed away, Friday, Nov. 2nd at her home in Pinehurst. Born in Manhattan, NY; she was the daughter of the late Bronislaw and Rozalia (Lazarczyk) Pieloch and wife of William B. Wernet. Mrs. Wernet graduated from Kings County Hospital Center School of Nursing in Brooklyn, NY (Class of 1945) and was a member of the US Army Cadet Nurse Corps stationed at Cushing Hospital in Framingham. Mrs. Wernet worked in the GE Telechron Medical Clinic in Ashland for 15 years. A longtime resident of Ashland, she was a devoted member of St. Cecilia's Church in Ashland and sang in the choir. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Mildred W. Boyd and her husband Kenneth of Pinehurst, NC; one son, Stephen P. Wernet and his wife Sandra of Tomball, TX; one sister, Sophie L. Pieloch of Yonkers, NY; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchild. She was the mother of the late Theresa M. Smith and sister of the late Helen T. Roan and the late Blanche M. Pieloch. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, Nov. 9th at 9:00am in St. Cecilia's Church in Ashland followed by burial in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland.
