Obituary

Suzanne Mary Howley, 73, of Framingham passed away Monday Feb. 10, 2025.  Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late A. Gordon and Ruth (Schumacher) Howley.  Suzanne was the first person in her family to go to college, attending Boston University and later earning her Master's Degree in Home Economics from Framingham State University.  She most recently worked as an Outreach Worker for the Council on Aging in the Town of Stow, MA.  Suzanne was talented at sewing and quilting and taught quilting classes at a local fabric store.  Suzanne was deeply proud of her daughter, Hildy, and inspired a love of reading and passion for learning Spanish. She loved going out to lunch with her sister and visiting the Framingham Public Library. Her brother cherishes memories of shared trips to New York City in their youth. Christmas with the entire family was her most anticipated annual event. In her younger years, she was a car mechanic, and she would never never fail to point out an older car by its make and model. Listening to Car Talk on NPR was a Saturday morning staple.

Suzanne is survived by her daughter, Hildy Joseph of Madison, WI, siblings, Joan Howley and Richard Howley, nephew, Joseph Ciccarelli, nieces, Emily Howley, and Cara Ciccarelli and her husband Bryant Lyles, and their daughter Parker Lyles.

A funeral service will be celebrated Sunday Feb. 16th at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland, MA. Visiting hours will be held Saturday from 3:00-6:00 PM in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Suzanne's name to the Framingham Public Library , 49 Lexington Street, Framingham, MA 01702. Please place Suzanne's name in the memo of a check or if donating online place her name in the note option. The library staff will then create a bookplate in her honor.
