Susan (Stanhope) Garland, 77 of Stow, former longtime resident of Marlborough, passed away Friday September 26th at her home. Born in 1948, she was daughter of the late Lloyd and Rita (Simoneau).

She was the wife of Henry Garland for 54 years. He was the love of her life and best friend.  The center of their marriage and life was the love of Jesus.

A graduate of Hudson Catholic High School and Framingham State University. She enjoyed reading, crafts, knitting and spending time with family and friends.

Susan was employed in several jobs; her favorite was as a librarian at Maynard Public Library.  She also worked for a duck decoy manufacturer and as a teacher's aide for Florida Public schools. In 2001, she moved to Florida where she enjoyed 15 wonderful years in Florida with the love of her life, Henry. In 2016, they returned to New England and moved to Stow.

Susan is survived by two sons, Jeff Garland and his wife Kathleen of Oakham, and John Garland and his wife Wendy of Norfolk, three grandchildren, Nicholas, Nora, and Nathan.

She is also survived by her brother, Richard Stanhope of New Jersey, cousin Robert Perry of Shrewsbury, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service will be held Friday Oct. 3rd at 11:00am in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland, MA with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland.  Visiting hours will be held Friday from 9:00-10:30am prior to the service in the funeral home.
