Steven Edward
Enos
Aug 24, 1949 — Nov 23, 2024
Ashland
Steven Edward Enos, 75, of South Yarmouth, formerly a longtime resident of Ashland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 23, 2024, with his family by his side. Born in Framingham, Massachusetts, Steven was the beloved son of the late Edward and Mary (McGrail) Enos. He was the devoted husband of the late Stephanie (Kiley) Enos, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.
Steven was a loving husband, father, and son who cherished his family above all else. He and his wife, Stephanie, were a dynamic duo who approached life with warmth and cheer. Together, they tackled life's challenges and adventures with grace and good humor for almost five decades.
Steven grew up in Framingham, the eldest of three siblings, with his two younger sisters, Cheryl and Joanne. He graduated from Framingham High School before pursuing a degree from Framingham State College, where he majored in Education.
Steven was a dedicated and deeply respected educator, teaching 8th-grade physical science at Dover-Sherborn Schools for over three decades. He had a gift for making science fun and engaging, inspiring his students with projects and extracurricular clubs such as rocketry. He took immense pride in his work, often staying up late to grade papers and provide thoughtful feedback, demonstrating his genuine care for each student.
In addition to his career in education, Steven served in the Army National Guard Reserve in the 1970s, and he served his country proudly.
After retiring in 2006, Steven's connection to education remained strong. He became a school bus driver for the Hopkinton school district with Connelly Buses. For nearly 20 years, Steven was a beloved figure among the students and their families. His creativity shone during the holidays when he introduced the "bus elf," a delightful tradition that brought excitement and joy to the children each day.
Steven's talents extended far beyond the classroom. He was a skilled handyman who could tackle any project, whether it was plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, or general renovations. His proudest accomplishment in this area was transforming an old house on Cape Cod into a cherished family cottage, doing almost all the work himself.
In his later years, after the passing of his wife, Stephanie, Steven found companionship and comfort in his partner, Linda Bennett. Together, they shared a deep connection in their love of nature and animals and spending time with family and friends. Steven also developed a love for baking from scratch, and his desserts became a highlight of family holiday gatherings.
Above all, Steven's greatest joy was his grandson, Harvey, whom he affectionately called his "little buddy." Steven enthusiastically and unwaveringly supported Harvey's talents and academic pursuits. He was a constant cheerleader for his daughter-in-law, Kristina, as she endeavored to educate Harvey at home.
Steven was also a natural storyteller who could captivate any audience with his tales, always delivered with warmth and humor. His life was marked by kindness, generosity, and a boundless love for family and community.
He is survived by his son, Matthew Enos, and his wife, Kristina, of Newberry, FL; his beloved grandson, Harvey Enos; his sister, Joanne Foley, and her husband, Roger, of Brewster, MA; his partner, Linda Bennett, of Ashland, MA; and several nieces and nephews. Steven was predeceased by his sister, Cheryl DesRosiers.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street, Ashland, MA. Burial will follow in Edgell Grove Cemetery in Framingham. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
