Stephen James McCormick, 73, of Ashland passed away Tue., March 10th at his home with his family by his side.  Born in Natick, he was the son of the late James and Kathleen (Zilch) McCormick and husband of Carol (Bennett) Polack.  Stephen was an accomplished and talented painting contractor owning his own business.  He was an avid New England sports fanatic. He fished and golfed whenever possible.  He was a "wanna be" meteorologist and would have loved to be a storm chaser. Family and friends regularly consulted him on upcoming storms.

In addition to his wife Carol, Stephen is survived by his son Kevin McCormick, step-sons, Kyle Polack and wife Ann of Holliston, and Alex Polack of Ashland. Two sisters, Carrol Connors of Holliston, and Sue Wilson of Natick; pre-deceased by sister Barbi McCormick and brother in-law Steve ("Willie") Connors. He was the proud grandfather to Christian, Rayna, Darren, Reid, and Shelby.

A memorial gathering will be held Wed., March 18th at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St., Ashland, MA.  Calling hours will precede the Chapel memorial from 12:00-2:30.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association
