Obituary

Ashland - Sophie M. (Rozansky) Young, 89, of Ashland and formerly of Hudson and Cape Canaveral passed away peacefully on March 26th at Tufts Medical in Boston. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter T. Young who passed away in 2001 and with whom she shared 57 years of marriage. She is survived by her children; Walter and his wife Kathy of Florida, Robert and his wife Leny of Florida, Cynthia and her longtime companion Robert Thibault of MA, and Mark and his wife Jean of MA, her brother Frank Rozansky of FL, and sister Rose (Rozansky) David of MA, 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. Sophie is one of 13 children of William Rozansky and Mary (Pastula) Rozansky. She was born in PA and resided in multiple states in the US with her husband Wally and Children. For many years she was a factory worker for Thomas Taylor in Hudson, MA. She enjoyed crafts, cooking and traveling. Sophie and Wally took numerous cruises and trips including a particularly memorable tour of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland accompanied by Sophie's sister Rose David and Wally's sister-in-law Gladys Young. They enjoyed vacations in Hawaii as well as trips with family all over the US. In recent years Sophie and Wally lived in Florida, but resided the last two years with her son Mark, his wife Jean, and their two sons in Massachusetts. She will be remembered fondly by her family, friends, and The Shawl Ministry of St. Mathias Church of Marlborough, MA for the gifts she personally crocheted for them. A funeral service will be held Saturday March 31st at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland. Calling hours will be held Saturday from 2:00-4:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will take place next to her beloved husband Wally at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, FL at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salvation Army or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
