Shirley (Lepore) Mitchell, 89 of Ashland passed away Thur. Nov. 9th peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Born in Clinton, MA, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Josephine (Pomeroy) Lepore and wife of the late Dr. Daniel A Mitchell who died in 1974.
Shirley dedicated her life to serving others and gave selflessly to all. She took a religious oath and became a Secular Franciscan serving the Lord her entire life. She co-founded "The Shepherd's Table" in Worcester, MA, serving homemade meals to the most vulnerable of society. She climbed mountains, water skied, was an avid reader and educator. She was also creative in the arts of stained glass and artisan wool design as well as being an accomplished chef in all cuisines.
Since childhood Shirley was a voracious conversationalist; always inquiring about the hows and whys of everything. Because of this, she learned the Italian language, became a published writer of short stories and poetry, and became a certified Reiki Master.
