Scott Thouren, 55, of Ashland passed away February 26, 2016 from complications of a previous heart condition.  Born on December 1, 1960, he was the son of Richard Thouren and the late Elia Zaffino.

Scott graduated in 1978 from the Carpentry Shop at Keefe Technical High School.  He worked as a carpenter for a few years before beginning work at Bethany Construction, where he learned to operate heavy equipment.

In 1987 he began working for the Town of Ashland DPW, rising to Highway Superintendent.  On that same day he also began working at Caissie Paving, and because two jobs weren't enough, also worked for Stumpy's Tree Service.
He considered Caissie and Stumpy's part of his family.

There wasn't a machine, truck, or car he couldn't fix.  He remained a perfectionist at carpentry and had more than mastered other trades.

Scott's heart was not strong enough for all the good he did.

He leaves his best friend and favorite person, his sister Lisa.  Scott also leaves aunts and cousins who loved him dearly.  He was predeceased by his Uncle Nicky, his idol who he especially missed.

A funeral service will be held Friday March 4th at 10:00am in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland.  Calling hours will be held Thursday from 3:00-7:00 PM in the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers donations in Scott's name can be made to the Ashland Emergency Fund, P.O.
