Sandra Missaggia Stefens, 47, died peacefully at home after a long battle with cancer. Sandy confronted her illness with courage, determination and dignity. A lifelong resident of Ashland, she was the daughter of the late Leo and AnneMarie (Warren) Missaggia. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and friend who looked forward to family vacations, traveling, browsing through vintage shops, watching old movies and spending time with the people she loved. She loved her life and lived it to the fullest touching the lives of so many with her charismatic personality and adventurous spirit. For those of us who knew and loved her, she will forever be remembered for her beauty, witty sense of humor and her positive attitude. She was an inspiration to us all. She is survived by her beloved husband, Philip Stefens, her sons Joshua and Nicolas Kane, her stepchildren Philip, Kiera and Bailey Stefens of New York, her Mother-in-law Louise Stefens of New York, her sister Gail Murphy and husband John of Ashland, her brother Leo Missaggia and wife Caroline of Milford, brother-in-law Richard Stefens and wife Andrea of New York, nephews and nieces Christopher Murphy of Ashland, Bethany Casula and husband Joe of Hopedale, Ryan Missaggia of Uxbridge, Jenna Missaggia of Milford, Genevieve and Naomi Stefens of New York and great nephew Joey Casula of Hopedale, numerous Aunts, Uncles, cousins and dear friends. A funeral Mass will be held in Saint Cecilia's Church, Esty Street, Ashland on Monday morning at 9a.m. Interment will be held at a later date. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 5-7p.m. in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street, Ashland.
