Samuel Dyer, Jr., 91, of Framingham passed away on June 12th at Carlyle House in Framingham. The son of the late Samuel and Alice (Dexter) Dyer, he was the husband of Nancy A. Dyer. Mr. Dyer was a life-long resident of Framingham and North Truro. He graduated from Framingham High School and the University of Maine with a degree in engineering. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a Major in the Ninth Army Air Force in Europe. Following the war, Mr. Dyer worked as a self-employed management consultant. Sam was very instrumental in the realization of the FW Loring Arena, which was the first municipal-owned skating arena in New England, constructed in 1963. He was one of the original members and for many years served as chairman of the arena which is still serving the youth of Framingham today. He leaves his two sons: Thomas of Boylston and Jonathan of Lyman, NH; his daughter-in-law Sherry of North Conway, NH, and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Samuel, III. He was also the brother of Justine and her husband Eugene Phillips of Falmouth; E. Otis Dyer and his wife Jean of Rehoboth, and the late Jane Ellsworth of Illinois.
