Ruth Olive Scott, 85, of Ashland, passed away, Thursday, March 1st, at the Bethany Healthcare Center in Framingham. Born in Lawrence, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Lill (Seaverns) Stansfield. She was the wife of the late Colby B Scott, who died in 1979. A graduate of Lawrence High School, Mrs. Scott went on to attend the School of Handicraft and Occupational Therapy in Boston. She was a member of the Ashland Federated Church, Theta Phi Delta Missions - Orient Chapter 31 OES Framingham, Charter member of the Ashland VFW Woman's Aux. Post 2331, the American Legion Aux. James O'Carey Post 77, volunteer at the Framingham Union Hospital, and recipient of the Girl Scouts Golden Eagle of Merit. Mrs. Scott is survived by one daughter, Carleen Dowd and her husband James of Medway; two sons; Wayne C. of Lyndeboro, NH; and Roger P. of Ashland; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two sister-in-laws, Dorothy Wood of Hardwick, MA; and Phyllis and Robert Guptil of South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 6th, at 11:00am in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday from 4:00-7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bethany Healthcare Center, 97 Bethany Rd. Framingham, MA 01702.
