Ruth E. Piers, 98, of Framingham passed away October 31, after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Harold Piers who died in 1991. Born in Somerville, MA she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Hapel) Giroux. Along with her husband, Mrs. Piers was a co-owner of the Baystate Carnation Growers Company in Framingham for over 60 years. She is survived by her daughter Sylvia DeValle of West Palm Beach, FL and one son, Alan Piers of Paisley, FL; 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. She was also the mother of the late Harold Piers and Theodore Piers. A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Cecilia's Church, Esty Street, Ashland on Wednesday morning, November 4th at 9 a.m. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery in South Natick. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Matarese Funeral Home at 8 a.m. until 8:45 a.m. prior to the mass. There are no calling hours.
