Russell Joseph Gardiner, 81, of Ashland passed away Mon. Sept. 17 ^th after a period of declining health. Born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia; he was the son of the late John and Emma (Mahon) Gardiner. He was the husband of Lorraine (McNeil) Gardiner for 55 years. Mr. Gardiner moved to the United States in 1963 and worked for the Continental Baking Co. in Framingham until his retirement.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one sister, Marie McCarthy and her daughter Gail Roach, both of Nova Scotia, and his close cousin, Renova Sampson of Nova Scotia.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday Sept. 26 ^th at 10:00am in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 1200 Hosford Street, Suite 101, Hudson, WI 54016-9316
