Obituary

Rosario O'Neill, 58, of Marlborough, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday February 18, 2016. Rosario was born in La Paz, Bolivia to Hernan and Marillia Machicado and moved with her family to Watertown, Massachusetts at the age of the 5. Rosario attended Rosary Academy and then Boston College, where she graduated Cum Laude with a BS in Psychology. For the past 25 years, Rosario has lived in Marlborough with her husband and highschool sweetheart, Wayne O'Neill. Rosario and Wayne were married for 35 years.

Rosario spent many years working as a Spanish translator in a hospital settings and wherever her services were needed before settling in to her ultimate life's work, being a mother. When her children were older, Rosario worked for 15 years as a Spanish teacher at Assabet Valley Regional Vocational school in Marlborough. Rose loved teaching and enjoyed all the relationships she made with co workers at Assabet. Rosario enjoyed the simple pleasures in life and was rarely seen without a small dunkin donuts cup. She reveled in making the holidays special for her family and finding the time to lay in the sun during the summer. Rosario loved taking spontaneous day trips with her husband. She joyously accepted the job of doting grandmother, "Abu", two years ago and found her enjoyment in celebrating her children's happiness.

Rosario is survived by her husband, Wayne, her daughter and son in law, Jackie and Kevin Caviston of Rutland; two grandchildren, Jack and Felicity, her son and daughter in law, Sean and Shannon O'Neill of West Boylston and her daughter, Jillian O'Neill of Marlborough. She also leaves her sister and brother in law, Beatrize and Richard Riordan of Ashland and brother and sister in law, Hernan and Kathy Machicado of Houston Texas. Rosario leaves a large family of many brothers and sisters in laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Rosario was an amazing person and will be greatly missed by her family. She will also be fondly remembered for her grace, strength and courage.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday February 22 nd at 11AM in St. Matthew's Church, 105 Southville Rd. Southboro. Calling hours will be held on Sunday evening from 4-7PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street in Ashland. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to VNA Hospice, 333 Turnpike Road, Southboro, MA 01772
