Ronald Wayne Everett, 57, of the Woodville section of Hopkinton, died Tuesday Nov. 8, 2005, at his home following a brave battle with esophageal cancer. He was the husband of Mary Ruth (Scott) Everett for 20 years. Born in Everett, he was the son of Samuel L. Everett of Malden and the late Laverne B. (Ridley) Everett. He attended elementary and middle school in Boston and graduated from Marlborough High School in 1968. He served with the U.S. Army Military Police from 1968 to 1972, where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. He attended Worcester State College in 1972, and in 1975 he acquired his Class 1 license from the New England Tractor Trailer School. He joined Teamsters Local 170 in Worcester and was a member for 28 years. He was employed at Caprera Construction Co. in Boylston as an industrial landscaper and truck driver, Lily Transportation Corp. as a non-union driver in Boston, New York and Washington, D.C., and was voted Driver of the Year 1997-1998. Following Occupational Safety and Health Training (OSHA) and (IBT) Hazardous Waste Training, he worked for Stone and Webster Construction Co. as a rock truck driver, Larkin Enterprises of Blackstone and Blackstone Power Plant Supplies as heavy equipment driver, Michels Directional Crossing as a heavy equipment driver. He was part-time driver for U.S. Postal Service and was awarded the Safe Driver Award. For more than 20 years, Mr. Everett donated first blood and then platlets to the UMass Medical Center Blood Bank. He enjoyed driving his motorcycle, football, baseball, basketball and NASCAR. Besides his wife and father, he leaves three stepchildren, Dale M. Desmond, Carlena R. Faucher and her spouse, Mario G., and Veronica I. Hayes; his son-in law, E. Mark Hayes III; five grandchildren, Edward Marcus Hayes IV, Dylan Joseph Hayes, Brandon Michael Hayes, Brittany Desmond Faucher and Samantha Houget Faucher; and several family members and close friends. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, at 10 a.m., at the Matarese Funeral Chapel, 325 Main St., Ashland, followed by a reception at the Ashland Community Center Hall on Rte. 135, next to Ashland State Park. Burial will be at the convience of the family in Massachusetts National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the VNA and Hospice Home Care in Southborough and Hopkinton.
