Roger E. Clarke, 94, of Ashland, passed away, Thursday, Jan. 3rd at the Kathleen Daniel Nursing Home in Framingham. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Ralph and Frances (Wilcox) Clarke, and husband to the late Blanche (Stanton) Clarke who died in 1976. Roger attended Ashland Public Schools and was a graduate of Wentworth Institute Class of 1933. A lifelong resident of Ashland, Mr. Clarke worked for Telechron and General Electric as an electrician for 40 years, one of his duties being to set the Telechron Clock Tower. He was also employed during the 1950's with the Yankee Doodle Organ Shop in Holliston. Mr. Clarke was a man who loved a challenge; earning his private pilots license at the Framingham Airport, assembling his own pipe organ in his garage, was a ham radio operator, and built his own dark room for an interest in photography and early color photography. He was a member of General Electric's Quarter Century Club and the Holliston Organ Guild. Mr. Clarke is survived by two daughters; Joan Elliott of Salisbury, CT; and Beverly Sullivan of Holliston; one grandson, Nicholas M. Werthessen and his wife Irene of Millis, and one great-grandson Nicholas R. Werthessen. He was the brother of the late Josephine Bryer.
