Obituary

Roger Joseph Berube, 73, of Ashland, died Sunday, July 9, 2006, at the Sunbridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Milford. Born in Fort Kent, Maine, he was the son of the late George and Mattie (Landry) Berube. Mr. Berube served his country honorably with the U.S. Army. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2331 and American Legion Post 77, both in Ashland. He enjoyed fishing and was known for his ability to repair almost anything. He leaves three daughters, Jennifer Berube of Milford, Pamela Berube of New York and Tammy Ferguson of Bangor, Maine; three grandchildren, Alex Berube and Jonathan and Steven Ferguson; one brother, Clarence Berube and his wife, Geneva, of East Hartford, Conn.; and two sisters, Rita Clavette of New Brunswick, Canada, and Alvine Thibodeau of Ashland. He was the brother of the late Norman Berube, Patricia LaFrance and Joanne Ellis and grandfather of the late Bernard Ferguson. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, July 12, at 9 a.m., at St. Cecilia Church in Ashland, followed by cremation. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, July 11, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Matarese Funeral Home (www.mataresefuneral.com), 325 Main St., Ashland. Instead of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ashland Emergency Fund, PO Box 112, Ashland, MA 01721.
