Robert H. Young, 75, of Ashland passed away August 8th in Framingham after a period of declining health. He was the husband of the late Barbara Ann (Pontremoli) Young, who passed away in 1994. Born in Guilford, Maine he was the son of the late Edward and Anita (Skinner) Young. Bob was employed with the Town of Ashland, Water & Sewer Department 35 years, retiring in 2000. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the United States Navy aboard the USS Salerno. He was an avid bowler and a member of the VFW Post 2331 in Ashland. He is survived by a loving stepmother, Norma J. Young of Maine, his children: Bradley P. Mellen and his wife Katie of Framingham, Reginald Young, Blaine Young, Robert Young all of Maine; his stepchildren: Karen Smith and her husband Rick of Ashland, Nancy Desiata and her husband Dennis of Cape Cod, Kevin Mellen and his wife Sandy of Shrewsbury, Debbie Owen and her husband Kevin of Ashland. He was known as "Boompa" to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Robin Jean Young. A graveside service will be held on Thursday morning August 12th at the family lot in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland at 11:00am. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday evening from the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St., Ashland from 5-7pm.
