Obituary

Robert Alan Nemet, 76, of Holliston passed away Monday Dec. 2nd after a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer.  He was the son of the late Richard and Doris (Pike) Nemet and loving husband to Esther (Demeritt) Nemet for 56 years.  He was born in Boston and moved to Framingham when he was 7.  He was educated in the Framingham Public Schools, graduating from Framingham High School, Vocational Division.  Robert attended Bentley College for accounting.  He worked for Data General and Mount Auburn Hospital before working as a fields supervisor for the Town of Holliston for 18 years, retiring in 2024.  He was active in the Holliston community as a past park commissioner, member of the school building committee, on stage camera operator for Holliston Cable Access Television, the longest standing member of the Holliston Pantry Shelf, as well as an officer of the Holliston Youth Soccer Association and an official of the Holliston Little League Program.  Robert was Holliston Citizen of the Year in 1993.  He was honored October 19th, 2024, with the naming of the Bob Nemet Sports Complex at Holliston High School.

In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by three children, Deborah Dorman, wife of the late Rick Dorman, of Milford, Robert Nemet and his wife Jaime of Holliston, and Brian Nemet and his wife Melissa of Sturbridge; four grandchildren, Dylan, Devon, Westley, and Jackie; two sisters, Christine Nemet of Duxbury, and Cheryl Poor of Northborough, and one brother, Russell Nemet of Brooksville, FL. He is survived by his in-laws, Lana Demeritt, Ellen and John McGinnis, Linda and Andy Loranger, and Barbara and Ted Ball. .  He leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. He was the brother of the late Ronald, Richard, and Charlene Nemet. He was the son-in-law of the late Raymond and Dorothy Demeritt, and brother-in-law of the late Ray Demeritt and Joe Demeritt.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday Dec. 8th at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland, MA.  Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 12:00-2:30PM prior to the service.
