Robert C. Howland, 78, of Framingham, passed away Sunday, August 06, 2006 at Elliot Healthcare Center in Natick with special thanks going to the staff of the third floor Alzheimer's unit. Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Melbourne and Eunice (Barrows) Howland. He was the husband of Barbara (Paul) Howland, to whom he was married 59 years. A resident of Framingham for the last 52 years, Mr. Howland was employed with Telechron Co. for 40 years as a pipe fitter and carpenter and was active as a local craftsman. He was a member of the Am Vets Post 79 in Natick and the V.F.W. Post 2331 in Ashland. Mr. Howland served his country honorably with the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific theater. In addition to his wife he is survived by, one son, Bruce Howland of Arizona, four grandchildren, Jennifer Sullivan of Epping, NH; Mallary Tenore of Holliston, Edward Morrell of Ashland, and Brian Morrell of Florida; six great-grandchildren; three sisters; Eva Arkerson of Saxonville, Lillian Cornish of Framingham, and Edith Stonehouse of Holliston; six brothers: Thomas of Framingham, Curtis of Cochituate, Roy of New Hampshire, Albert of Maine, Raymond of Framingham, and Arthur of Holden. He was the father of the late Suzanne Morrell Magyar of Ashland and Robin Tenore of Holliston and grandfather of the late Adam Howland Piazza. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 8th at 8:00 PM in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM prior to the service.
