Obituary

Robert L. Clark, 83 of Natick, died peacefully on March 8, 2015. He was predeceased by his loving wife Virginia M. Clark. "Bob" as he was known was born in Framingham, MA on March 24, 1931. He spent his entire life in the Metro west area growing up in Natick, and later residing in Wayland and Ashland. Most recently he had been a resident of Golden Pond in Hopkinton and Mary Ann Morse in Natick. Bob was a proud veteran of the United States Navy serving on the USS Edisto during the Korean War. He was awarded a commendation from then Massachusetts Governor Christian A. Herder for going overboard to save a fellow seaman's life while on an ice breaking mission in Greenland. Bob was the founder/owner of Clark & Cass of Natick, MA. He also worked at Lilja's Package store in Natick and Quality Beverage in Taunton up until his retirement in 1989. Bob and his wife were active members of the Federated Church in Ashland. His interests included camping, bowling, Bingo, traveling with his wife and spending time with his family. He was proud of the fact that he once appeared on the TV bowling show Candlepins for cash. He is survived by his three Children. Arthur (Chip) Hartford and his wife Joanne of West Yarmouth, MA, Michael J. Clark and his wife Dawn of Milford, MA and, Cheryl M. DesRochers and her husband Michael of Holliston, MA. Loving Grandfather of Jonathan Hartford and his wife Sarah, Gregory Hartford and his fiancée Tracie Higgins, Meghan Hartford and her fiancée Mark White, Andrew and Katie DesRochers and Amanda Clark. Loving Great Grandfather of John (Jack) Hartford. A funeral service will be held on Thursday morning, March 12th at 10AM in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street in Ashland with one calling hour held from 9 to 10AM prior to the service. Burial will be private at the family's request. Donations can be made in memory of Robert & Virginia Clark to the Federated Church, 118 Main Street, Ashland, MA 01721.
