Mancini, Rita Elizabeth Ashland Rita Elizabeth Mancini, 91, of Ashland passed away Tuesday Nov. 18th surrounded by family. Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Bennedetto Ottaviani and the late Anna (Iarussi) (Ottaviani) Trincia and wife of the late Frederick J. Mancini. Rita graduated from Framingham High School Class of 1941 and later Framingham Business College Class of 1942. She worked for the Town of Framingham for 2 years, the Core of Engineers in Washington DC for 5 years, and later the Union House Restaurant in Framingham for 10 years and as a cook with the Ashland School System for 20 years. A resident of Ashland since 1947, Rita was very involved with her community. She was an active member of St. Cecilia's Parish as CCD Secretary and as a confirmation class sponsor, a den mother to Boy Scouts Den #4, Brownie and Girl Scout Leader for Troop #2, and member of the Ashland Senior Center where she participated in Tai Chi, aerobics, and exercise classes. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, crocheting, cards with her Sunday Girls, and dominos. She especially enjoyed dancing with her husband and was a member of the Clock Town Twirlers. Mrs. Mancini was an unforgettable character who never had a bad word to say about anyone and enjoyed being with people and loved life. She is survived by four children: James Mancini and his wife Joan of Ashland; Louis Mancini and his wife Geraldine of Ashland; Karin McNally and her husband Stephen of Medway; and Gail-Ann Lowney and her husband Michael of Ashland; two brothers; Bennedetto Ottaviani and Vincent Trincia; one sister; Delores Lavin; eleven grandchildren; James, John, Richard, and Paul Mancini; Michelle Adams; Jennifer Cortez; Brenda Heller; Frederick, Michael, and Catherine Lowney; and Amanda McNally; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. Rita was the sister of the late Louis Ottaviani and Thomasena Marchetti. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Nov. 24th at 9:00am in St. Cecilia's Parish, 54 Esty Street in Ashland with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 3:00-7:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland.
