Obituary

Richard W. Zaffino, 73, of Framingham, passed away October 21st at his home. Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Nicola and Theresa (Sita) Zaffino. Richard served honorably in the U. S. Marine Corps and worked as a firefighter for the Town of Framingham for 30 years before retiring in 1999. He was a founding member of both the Metro West Marine Corps League #1037 and the Framingham Company Minute and Militia. He enjoyed gardening, antiquing and beekeeping. Richard is survived by a brother, Nicholas Zaffino of Dennis, MA; four sisters; Elena Davies and Lydia Dumas of Framingham, Elaine Zaffino of Virginia and Olga Bartels of Florida, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and many dear friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Dominic Zaffino, and a sister, Elia M. Thouren. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 8th at 11:00am at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Arrangements are under the direction of the Matarese Funeral Home , 325 Main St. , Ashland MA www.mataresefuneral.com.
