Richard David Tartaglia, 74, lifelong resident of Ashland passed away Fri. Oct. 27th unexpectedly at his home.  He was the son of Florence (LaDue) Dancause and the late John F. Tartaglia.  Richard served the Town of Ashland as a police officer before becoming Deputy Tax Collector for several area towns.  He served his country honorably from 1969-71 in the US Marine Corp.  Richard will be remembered as a loving father and devoted family man.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Christine (O'Connor) Tartaglia in 1998.  He is survived by his mother Florence Dancause of Ashland, two children, Susan Habchy and her husband Rabih of Norwell, and John "JJ" Tartaglia of Ashland, three grandchildren, Rabih, Riley, and Phoebe Habchy, and one sister, Marie Heenan.  He was the brother of the late John Tartaglia Jr, and Cheryl Tartaglia.

A graveside service will be held Tues. Oct 31st at 11:00am in Wildwood Cemetery, Chestnut St. Ashland, MA.  Calling hours will be held Monday from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland, MA.  In lieu of flowers donations in Richard's name may be made to Elemental ABA, 338 River St. Norwell, MA  02061 – to support children with Autism.
