Obituary

Richard Arthur Runci, 91, of Ashland passed away April 30, 2011. Born in Dorchester on March 23, 1920, he was the son of the late John and Josephina (Scolaro) Runci and husband of the late Helen (Tunney)Runci, who died in 1998. Together they enjoyed 53 years of marriage. A resident of Ashland for almost 50 years, Mr. Runci worked as a bottling supervisor for the Carling Brewing Company for 20 years, retiring from Carling in 1975. He remained actively employed well into his 80's. Richard served his country honorably during World War II in North Africa and Italy with the 88th Infantry Division achieving the rank of Sergeant and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was an active member of the 88th Infantry Division Association. He was an avid fan of all Boston sports teams but most of all enjoyed the time spent with his family. He is survived by his daughter Patricia Green of Milford, and his son Richard of Douglas, four grandchildren, Amy George, Joshua Green, Ashley Green and Shannon Criscola and six great grandchildren. A memorial service will be celebrated at the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street in Ashland on Thursday, May 5th at 11:00am with burial to follow in St. Tarcisius Cemetery in Framingham. Calling hours will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday May 4th at the Matarese Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Matthew's Parish, 105 Southville Road, Southborough, MA 01772.
