Husband, Father, Pop Pops, and Brother, Richard E. Peterson of Woodland Road, Ashland, MA died August 2nd in Brigham and Women's Hospital from complications related to lung cancer. "Richie" was blessed with his wife of 55 years, Ginny, his four sons, Richard Lee, Scott, Cris, and Dale. In addition to his eight grandchildren he has a sister Phyllis Wood who resides in Redding, CA. Richie was born in Framingham MA in 1925. A lifelong resident of Ashland, he attended Ashland High and is remembered for his service as two time Class President. His love for the ocean brought him to Martha's Vineyard where he spent his summers. He was blessed with several ocean vacations along the coast where he and his wife enjoyed his passion. Not many knew his accomplishments. He held patents for his work in arboraculture. He was once the youngest tree warden in the U.S. It wasn't until September of 2005 that he retired as a private entrepeneur. It was his zest for life, his sense of humor, unquestionable integrity, and living life on his terms that gained the love and respect for all who knew him. He will be missed by his family and friends but most of all he will be remembered in our hearts for the gifts he gave to each of us. A Memorial Service in celebration of his life will be held at Tabernacle, Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard on Saturday August 12th at 2:00 PM.
