Richard Luther "Dick" Linden, age 86, of Ashland, formerly of Needham and Wellesley, passed away on November 10th with friends and family at his side. Born February 13th, 1931 at home in Wellesley to the late Ellen and Frank L. Linden. He was the dedicated and loving husband to the late Margaret Ann (McDaniels) Linden for thirty seven years and predeceased by his first wife, Carol Ann (Stengel) Linden who died two months after their marriage.
He is survived by his son, Richard Scott Linden of Keene, NH, his daughter Susan Ann Fox and her husband Louis of Ashuelot, NH, his grandson Justin and his granddaughter, Astoria (Tori) Fox. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by his sister Virginia Hammond, and his brothers Robert and Frank Linden. He graduated from Wellesley High School and from the Graduate School of Savings Banking at Brown University in R.I.. He began his career as a teller at Newton Savings Bank and advanced to Assistant Vice President of the Savings Bank Life Insurance Department. After banking, he worked in the Maintenance Dept. at Liberty Mutual in Weston and most recently enjoyed working as a Security Officer at the TJX Corporation Headquarters in Framingham, Mass. He spent six years in the Navy, three of which were on the USS Perry DD844. While on the USS Perry, he had two tours of Europe, got to visit London twice and enjoyed visiting Egypt, Turkey and Greece. He loved spending time with his family in New Hampshire and visiting with nieces and nephews. He was always up for an adventure whether it be one of his cherished trips throughout the country with his son, going to see a play or a musical, seeing live music or going to a Patriots, Red Sox, or Bruins game. He loved music, especially classical, swing and jazz, played trumpet and even had his own dance band. He was always there for his family and friends with a smile on his face. He touched so many lives and was a true inspiration. He enjoyed life, and tried to help others enjoy it also.
A funeral service will be held Friday Nov. 17th at 11:00am in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland, MA. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home.
