Richard Joseph Gaglio, 76, of Ashland formerly of Hyde Park passed away at his home after a long illness. Born in Hyde Park, the son of the late Antonio and Anna (Calabro) Gaglio, Richard was a lifelong resident of Hyde Park until moving to Ashland to be closer to family. He was the owner and operator of Gaglio Contracting; a water, sewer, and excavation business for many years and enjoyed what he did. When not working, he loved to be with family and friends. He also loved deep sea fishing. Mr. Gaglio served his country honorably with the Army from 1958-1962.
He is survived by two children; Lisa Cotton and her husband Michael of Ashland, and Richard Gaglio of Hyde Park, MA; four grandchildren; Alex Cotton and his fiancé Sarah, Joe Cotton, Sarah Cotton, and Richard Gaglio Jr.; sister, Theresa Feeley of Hyde Park, and brother, Sam Gaglio of Norton, MA; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Thursday May 5th at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4:00-6:00 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Boston Children's Hospital, 401 Park Drive Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215-5301.
