He was the husband of Karen (Delano) Pederson, to whom he was married almost 36 years. Born in Concord, he was the son of George and Marjorie (Reed) Pederson. A graduate of Acton-Boxborough Regional High School, he was an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. He served in the Army, stationed in Korea during the Pueblo crisis, and at the U.S. Army Natick Labs. A resident of Ashland for 34 years, he graduated from the MDC Police Academy in 1978 and joined the Ashland Police Department in 1979, where he served for 23 years, retiring in 2002. He was a lifetime member of the Ashland VFW Post 2331, and served as vice president of the board of directors and as junior vice commander. He was a member of the American Legion James O'Carey Post 77, Ashland Fish and Game, and the North Star Masonic Lodge A.F. and A.M., in Ashland. Mr. Pederson also served as town constable for more than 15 years. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, sailing, reading, coin collecting, and bartending at the VFW. At the time of his death, he was organizing the sending of care packages to our troops in Iraq through the VFW. His greatest joy were his children and grandchildren, and he will be greatly missed by those who knew him. Besides his wife and parents, he leaves two children, Kirsten Pederson and Erik Pederson and his wife, Donna, all of Ashland; three grandchildren, Kyle, Mary and Erika Pederson; one brother, Douglas Pederson and his wife, Sherry, of Westford; his mother-in-law, Jean Delano of Framingham; and many relatives and friends.
