Peter Andrew Fitanides, 94 of Natick, MA formerly of NH, ME, and DC passed away Thursday April 11th after a period of declining health. Born in Saco, ME, he was the son of the late Andrew and Viola (Sarelas) Fitanides. Peter owned and operated Pizza by Charles in Manchester, NH and helped establish Pappy's Pizza in Manchester and Hampton Beach, NH.
Peter Fitanides, PFC served his country honorably during WWII as an Army Combat Medic with the 406th Regiment of the 102nd (Ozark) Infantry Division in France and Germany. He was wounded in combat and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
He is survived by seven children; Stephanie Lewis and her husband Charles of Chino, CA; the late Adrianne Fitanides; Andrew Fitanides of Nevada City, CA; Thomas Fitanides and his wife France of Saco, ME; Marion Fitanides and her husband Joseph Deleon of Epping, NH; Nicholas Fitanides of Ashburn, VA; and Dennis Fitanides and his wife Tina of Ashland, MA; thirteen grandchildren; Chuck & Jesse Lewis, Casey Lewis-Jones, Laura Regehr-Mahaffey, Ashlee Pealock, Andrea Fitanides Monagle, Mary Johnson, Theo Fitanides, Alex Fitanides, Colin & Kelly Carlson, and Antonio & Alexander Fitanides; eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Fred Fitanides of Saco, ME; and several loving nieces and nephews . He was the brother of the late Vivian Overton, Theophilus Fitanides, and Marion Stickney.
He will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery.
