Paulina (Polly) Dow Izor, passed away Sunday, April 15th, 2007, after a long battle with cancer. Polly, 83, was born in Waterbury Center, Vermont in 1924, the daughter of Lillian and Earl Dow. Married immediately after the war to returning US Marine Joseph A. Izor, they found their way to Natick Massachusetts in 1953 to raise their family and enjoy the best years of their lives. After her husband's death in 1977, Polly moved to Westborough and remained there until July 2006, when she went into hospice care at her son's home in Natick. She is survived by her son Michael (Leticia Nieves) of Natick, her daughter Poppy (Gordon Cail) of Leland, NC, her grand-daughter Paula (Jon Taylor) of Quincy, her beloved sisters Rosie Graves of Lyndonville VT, Mary Bassett of Westminster, MA, Lucky Knapp of Windsor VT, her big brothers Sanborne Dow of Burlington VT and Calvin Dow of Danbury CT as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends from all across the country. Polly's most memorable employment was with Sears at the Natick Mall, where she earned her 30-year pin, and the nickname "The Paint Lady". She was an avid reader and a world traveler, making countless trips with her sisters to Italy, England, Scotland, Germany, France, Japan, Thailand, and Australia. She was a lover of nature and never tired of the beauty of the Southwest, the glaciers of Alaska, the coast of New England, and the green mountains of Vermont. Polly was the quiet strength of her family and leaves a legacy of love in all who knew her. This summer her family and friends will gather in remembrance at Holy Cross Cemetery in Duxbury VT, where Polly will join her beloved Joey forever.
