Paula A. (Horne) Sousa, 67, of Ashland passed away at her home with loved ones by her side after a long battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late Reginald Sousa who passed away in 2000. A lifelong resident of Ashland she was the daughter of the late Henry Horne of Ashland and Henrietta (Boyd) Horne of Canada. Most recently employed at the Ashland Convenience Store, she had also worked at Telechron, DGR in Ashland and Bradlees Department Store in Framingham. She was well known for her decorations at the American Legion Hall. Always on the lookout for a great deal, her passions were yard sales and gardening. She was also a Cub Scout Leader. Her most cherished times were spent with her cat Shadow and her beloved family. She is survived by her children: James A. Sousa and Scott Sousa of Ashland; Pauline M. Sousa Saporetti and her husband Harold of Framingham; sisters Jacqueline Graci and her husband Robert, Ann L. Cheever and her husband Malcolm, Carolee Macdonald; brothers, Henry Horne, Jr. and his wife Linda, and Gerald Horne and his wife Judy, and; eight grandchildren: Jessica Sousa, Matthew Sousa, Kelleigh Sousa, Dylan Sousa, Jamie Saporetti, Joseph Saporetti, and Cody and Martin Elliott; two great grandchildren and a third expected. She was predeceased by her daughter Deborah Sousa and her brother John Horne. A funeral service will be held Monday at 10:00am in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 5:00-7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ashland Emergency Fund, PO Box 112, Ashland, MA 01721 or the Ashland Food Pantry.
