Paul R. Romeo, 82, of Ashland passed away on August 4, 2010. He was born September 8, 1927 in Framingham to the late Marietta (Davis) and Santo Romeo. Mr. Romeo attended Bryant and Stratton College. Mr. Romeo was owner of Romeo's Supermarket in Ashland for over 50 years. He was a member of the Board of Directors for the Co-operative Bank, Framingham, retiring after 37 years of service and countless contributions as a member of several committees during his tenure. He served as Treasurer for the Town of Ashland after spending many years serving on the Finance Committee. He was also active in many organizations including the Boy Scouts of America, The Marian High School Father's Association, and a life-long member of the 100 Club of Massachusetts. He was a Navy Veteran and an active member of the James O. Carey Legion Post 77 and the VFW Post 2331 of Ashland. He leaves his wife of 60 years, Marie (Montal), seven children: Richard P. of Marshfield, Ronald T. of FL, Robert G. and wife Catherine of VT, Paula Camara and husband William of FL, Patti Howell of Uxbridge, Pamela Amalfi and husband Michael of Ashland, Russell J. of CA; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and a sister, Dorothy Robertson of Hopkinton. A funeral mass will be said on Monday at 9 AM in St. Cecilia's Church, Ashland with interment to follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Ashland. Calling hours are Sunday 3-5 PM at the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street, Ashland. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association and the MetroWest Cancer Care Center.
