Obituary

KOHUT, Patricia 'Dayle' (Thompson) Kohut,       89      Essex, MA

Many people did not know that Dayle's actual name was Patricia. She disliked Patricia, Pat, Patty, or any derivatives of Patricia and preferred to use the uniqueness of her middle name, 'Dayle' which she would always stress was spelled with a 'Y'.

Dayle died at home on, Sunday, October 6th surrounded by family.

Dayle grew up in the Ryle Side section of Beverly, where she formed and maintained many close friendships and fond memories. In addition to being a loving wife and mother inside the home, raising her family on Mulberry Street, in the downtown section of Beverly, MA, Dayle had a career with GTE Sylvania primarily at the Loring Ave., Salem, MA plant location. It was at Sylvania Dayle would form and maintain many lasting friendships and form extended families. Following the closure of Sylvania, Dayle took advantage and returned to school where she earned her cosmetology degree in hairdressing. Dayle's retirement was long, full and enjoyable, wintering with her husband, Ed, in Venice, Florida. In Florida, there too Dayle formed lasting friendships, as an avid golfer, Florida afforded Dayle the ability to play the game she loved so much, even obtaining the status of club champion and achieved a hole-in-one on her 80th birthday.

Dayle, the daughter of the late Carl G. and Helen (Barnard) Thompson. She was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband Edward F. Kohut, who died in 2019 as well as her sisters, Mary K. Thompson, and Jacqueline 'Lee' Carlson.

Dayle is survived by her children, Pamela (Lars) Gulbrandsen of Bradford, MA, and Stephen Thompson (Sylwia) Kohut of Essex, MA. Her beloved brother Paul B. (Buffy) Thompson of Georgetown, MA, grandchildren, Erik Gulbrandsen, of Bradford, MA, Nicholas (Spencer) Gulbrandsen, of San Fransico, CA, Meghan (Victor) Gulbrandsen of Haverhill, MA and Faustina H. Kohut of Essex, MA. Dayle was also the great grandmother to Victor, 'Trey' Payano, of Haverhill, MA. In addition, she is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Throughout Dayle's many physical and health complications, Dayle always persevered with a smile and a positive outlook, her Catholic faith and devotion to the Blessed Mother remained a significant source of peace and consolation for Dayle. Dayle would ask to be remembered in your prayers and to be assured of hers, now from heaven.
