Orrick "Hal" Childress, 54, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2007 at UMass Medical Center of a sudden illness. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Frankel) Childress of New York. They were married in 1985 and settled in Ashland. He was born in Hobbs, New Mexico and served with the US Military, stationed in Germany. Hal had a passion for building and flying model airplanes and loved to spend time fishing with his son. He also had a great fondness for hedgehogs. Mr. Childress was a devoted brother, father, and husband. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter Kimberly of Ashland, his son Evan of Ashland, his sister, Beverly Punis of Dedham, and nephew Christopher Punis of Medford. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 20th at 4:00 p.m., in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, (www.mataresefuneral.com) 325 Main Street in Ashland. There are no calling hours.
