Mildred Holbrook Howland, 76, of Framingham, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham. She was the wife of George Howland, who died in 1991. Born in St. Albans, Vt., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude (Holbrook) Colvin. A longtime resident of Framingham, Mrs. Howland worked as a nurse's aide in many area nursing homes. She enjoyed bingo and bowling. She leaves five children, George Howland Jr. of Medway, Brenda Marchetti of Johnston, R.I., Sharon Thibault of Blackstone, Donna Gardner of Holliston, and Douglas Howland of Milford; one brother, Charles Colvin of Uma, Ariz. and eight sisters, Charlotte Lovejoy, Ramona Wilkins, Martha Lupis, Linda Talamali, and Sandra McGrath, all of Framingham of Framingham, Phyllis Rapson of Newbern, N.C., Joyce Conley of Ashland, and Judy Welch of South Attleboro; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 1 p.m., at the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St., Ashland. There are no calling hours.
